Math manipulatives are physical objects, such as clocks, pattern blocks, dice, and jr.counters, that are used to make abstract concepts concrete in the minds of young learners. These learning tools are successful because they take a challenging, abstract concept, pair a physical representation to it, and turn it into something that is concrete and tangible. Using manipulatives in the classroom helps young learners achieve optimal math readiness at an early age.

I challenge you to make a list of all the things that are important to you, for your child to learn. How many were you able to list? Let me guess, does your list include: being polite, smart, appreciative, disciplined, independent, responsible, kind, or caring? If you listed many of those characteristics it makes for a great list, but remember I was referring to content.

Imagine how she’d love your baby while being able to apply just enough stern prodding to get them over the ‘hump.’

Imagine her asking precisely the right questions that allow her to fully understand your child: who they are, what motivates them, and what their misconceptions and struggles may be.

Imagine her constantly looking for new resources, ideas, books, and projects to share and teach your child.

Imagine her understanding and applying that difficult balance between freedom and structure.

It wasn’t until I connected with an accelerator (an organization with a mission to help people get started with their business) and these support programs that I not only figured out my next steps, but I got a little taste of that ‘White Women Confidence.’ My venture was dormant for two years before I took the next step. In 2019, I not only started signing up (which is the first step), but I started showing up (which is the most important step) to accelerator workshops, courses, and support programs.

Below is my list of all the accelerators, incubators, or support programs that have seriously helped add some of that ‘White Woman Confidence’ to my entrepreneur journey:

I challenge you, for 30 days to deliver on a compliment. Pick one. To live up to it. To own it. To be present in it and see where that gets you. I accidentally did it for a minute, and my life, my perspective hasn’t been the same since. Listen to the people around you, who have the eyes that will allow you to monetize.
